Skye's outdoor centre since 1990 - Activities and accommodation for groups, families and individuals

Activities

Half-day sessions for all ages and abilities

We offer half-day sessions for all ages and abilities in: kayaking, canoeing, climbing and abseiling, mountain boarding, hill walking, bushcraft, crating and archery.

A warm friendly welcome awaits you and we strive to ensure that all our participants get a real sense of place and environment through exploration as well as the activities they take part in. Sessions are led by appropriately qualified and certified staff, as your safety and enjoyment is our highest priority.

Archery

Target archery is enjoyable and often highly competitive. Be Robin Hood, Merida from Brave or Legolas from Lord of the Rings, and be inspired to be a future Olympian!

Bushcraft

Get off the grid… Build shelters from tarps and rope, light campfires, filter water. Great for families and groups and getting youngsters away from devices.

Canoeing

A more relaxing and usually ‘dryer’ watersport, using an inland loch, we introduce canoeing as a means of journeying. Particularly good for families and groups of mixed ages and abilities.

CLIMBING & ABSEILING

Using small local crags, we can show you the ropes and get you moving on real rock. A great progression if you have some experience of indoor walls, but have never tried climbing outdoors.

Crating

Crating: where participants build a tower from plastic crates and balance on top (with a safety rope!). The idea is to go as high as you can – or dare… This involves nerve, courage and is heaps of fun!

Hill Walking

The Trotternish ridge provides some of the most spectacular fell walking in Britain.  With the contrast of rounded moorland hills edged by dramatic crags and towering pinnacles, sea cliffs, full of birds and wildlife. We have a breath-taking landscape to enjoy.

Kayaking

Using either sheltered parts of the sea or inland lochs, sessions can be a combination of journeying, skills development and games as well as a great opportunity to see Skye from a different perspective.

Mountainboarding

See it as a snowboard with wheels, or an off-road skateboard… We use balance boards and then a nursery slope to start you off developing new skills. #shredthecroft
