Skye's outdoor centre since 1990 - Activities and accommodation for groups, families and individuals
Bushcraft
Half-day sessions for all ages and abilities
Try your hand at filtering water, lighting campfires and building shelters from tarps and rope. It’s all about being creative and imaginative! These skills are fun to learn and you never know when you might need them again. Great for families, groups and getting youngsters away from devices for a while.

FAQs
What do I need to bring?
Whitewave provides all technical and safety equipment. For kayaking bring some layers (fleece is perfect) and swimming gear to wear under our wetsuits and some old light footwear that will probably get wet, a towel if you want to use the showers. If you are canoeing bring some waterproofs and wellies if you have them, and a change of clothes (just in case..!)
For archery, crating, climbing and walking we ask people to bring waterproofs, warm clothing and strong footwear - dress for the weather! There is no such thing as bad weather just inappropriate clothing!!
Mountain boarding: wear loose clothes you don't mind getting scuffed or grass stained.
How long are the sessions?
Our canoeing, climbing, and kayaking sessions are booked as a half day starting either 9.30am or 2.00pm, though actual time doing an activity is likely to be between 1½ and 2 hours due to travel and gearing up time.
All other activities are normally about 1 ½ hours max.
Where is Whitewave?
The centre is 4 miles north of Uig on the A855. If you are travelling north we are on the right, go up the track to the car park by the activity shed and the small wind turbine. Grid reference is NG 388688.
Please see the Google map of our location on Skye but If you are using Sat Nav use IV51 9UB.
Do you cancel activity sessions?
Not often, as we have sheltered bits of water and small inland lochs we can use for water activities, and most land based activities can still be done in the rain (remember the adage no such thing as bad weather just inappropriate clothing).
But occasionally the weather would really make a session hard work, so we take your contact details so we can discuss options if things are looking a bit inclement.
Is there a minimum age for activities?
For kayaking we recommend 10 + and for everything else we find that younger than 5 might be getting a bit small. If you have younger kids and tiny tots in your group it's best to discuss options with us.
As an example we might suggest canoeing rather than kayaking so that wee ones can go with Mum and Dad or an instructor.
We like to give youngsters a go at things but it has to work for everyone. Best to phone and chat.
How do I book and what about cancelling?
All activities have to be pre-booked with confirmation given by email or phone.
If you are already on holiday, mobile phone coverage is getting better on Skye. We have often taken bookings when all information and confirmation has been left on each others voice mails - answering machine ping pong...
If you change your mind or can't make it, please let us know by phone then we aren't waiting for you and can re-allocate instructor duties.
How do I pay?
Payment is preferably by bank transfer, or cash/cheque on the day. We have no card facility on site.
